Software: Learning from Architecture

Many of the problems we face in IT and Enterprise Architecture, like when to compromise and accept you have to use the ‘f-word’ (‘fine’), when to stop with the site analysis, as you might already know enough, and how to prevent your own perceptions and ideas influencing the advice you are providing, are also common to ‘real architecture’. So can we learn from ‘real’ architects?

How do they manage complexity? How do they establish credibility to support architectural decisions (‘why should I go with what you are proposing’) and how do they deal with issues like professional ethics? Do ‘real’ architects have a century old toolkit that we can use to deal with all the things we face regularly? This talk will provide an interdisciplinary view on the typical problems enterprise and solution architects face, giving us an opportunity to look outside our usual box to drive change and avoid tunnel vision and the straight jacket.
