Python vs. Ruby: A Battle to The Death

24 February 2010 No Comment

For several months, I’ve been splitting my days between Python and Ruby, with each getting four hours of the day. This has naturally led to comparisons, and it’s made me reconsider a lot of Pythonisms I once took for granted. This talk will start with the two communities: where did they come from and what do they value? From there, we’ll look at how those communities give rise to the languages, their common libraries, and especially their different idioms. Special emphasis will be placed on points where one language’s features point out a hole in the other.
